Programs at Gateway

Individualized Service Plans (ISP) are created for each resident at Gateway within the first 30 days of arrival. Staff conduct clinical rounds, meeting three times a week to collaborate on treatment planning for each resident. Family members are involved in this process through regular meetings with staff and their loved one.

To help residents gain the skills needed to live more independently, Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), which encompasses a therapeutic day program and evening and weekend activities, has been established. While at Gateway, residents are required to participate in at least 20 hours of therapeutic groups each week. Gateways portfolio of groups includes:

  • Group Therapy
  • Psychosocial Skills
  • Vocational Skills
  • Medication Education
  • Health and Hygiene
  • Exercise and Nutrition Education
  • Personal Finance
  • Manners
  • Stress Management
  • Office Skills
  • Assertiveness Training
  • Cooking
  • Self-Esteem
  • Building Healthy Relationships
  • Art Therapy
  • Cinema Therapy
  • Creative Writing
  • Landscaping
  • Collaborative Social Processing
  • Anger Management

Gateway has a motivational system that encourages residents to take an active role in their therapeutic rehabilitation and provides them with positive reinforcement. Points are earned for appropriate participation and residents are given the opportunity to redeem points for rewards at Gateways point store.
